In the final leg of his historic Triple Crown, The 1973 Belmont Stakes, Secretariat faced just 4 other horses including his rival Sham.
He had beaten Sham to second in both the Kentucky Derby and The Preakness and was heavily odds on to complete the hat trick.
The odds turned out to be justified as we saw Secretariat deliver one of the most dominant big race victories that had been seen before or since setting a mile and a half record that still stands today nearly 50 years later.
